QUESTION 3: Does your site have materials for an evidence-based reading tutoring program?
The design of reading curricula and instructional plans should reflect practices that have been empirically shown to support gains in student achievement. Further, the supplemental program should incorporate elements of explicit, systematic pathways to teaching foundational reading skills. Supplemental programs may be embedded within the core reading curricula or a stand-alone program. Minimally, the program should include phonological awareness, phonics and fluency components, but oral language, vocabulary and comprehension are also important in the development of literacy skills.
