Quantitative Methodology and Innovation Announces New Website
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—The Quantitative Methodology and Innovation (QMI) division, through multi-disciplinary collaborations, aims to partner with researchers, government agencies, and private companies to support scientific inquiry with rigorous research design, data analysis, and innovation in quantitative methods and assessment.

QMI’s updates on projects, staffing, and news are announced through its new website (qmi.fsu.edu), Twitter (@QMI_FCRR), and Instagram (@QMI_FSU). Launched in September, the site allows visitors to navigate through its mission, people, projects, and products. The homepage also highlights latest news and upcoming articles such as “Conditional Longitudinal Relations of Elementary Literacy Skills to High School Reading Comprehension,” recently accepted for inclusion in the Journal of Learning Disabilities.
The launch hopes engage stakeholders while disseminating information on consulting and current partnerships. In additional to these features, a monthly updated quantitative blog will be highlighted on the website.

Associate Professor of Social Work
Yaacov Petscher, an Associate Professor of Social Work at Florida State University and the Deputy Director of the National Center on Improving Literacy (NCIL), serves as the Director for QMI.
“We are excited to be able to serve students and faculty at FSU to take their ideas and collaborate on new innovations rooted in evidence-informed and evidenced-based practices. By leveraging the diverse expertise on our team, ranging from data visualization and quantitative data analysis to substantive expertise in psychology, education, and social work, our interdisciplinary focus allows us to draw on multiple strengths to support scientific inquiry,” stated Petscher.
The Florida Center for Reading Research is a multidisciplinary research center at Florida State University that explores all aspects of reading research — basic research into literacy-related skills for typically developing readers and those who struggle, studies of effective prevention and intervention, and psychometric work on formative assessment.
