Trisha Phillip is a SPARC Fellow currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Special Education. Before her doctoral studies, she completed her Bachelor's degree in History and a Master's in Elementary Education from the University of Florida. She taught for five years in Gainesville, FL, as a fourth and fifth-grade teacher, where she gained valuable experience as an ELA co-facilitator providing reading instruction and interventions for students with learning disabilities. Trisha's direct experience in the classroom is a driving force behind her desire to help ensure both general and special educators have access to practical and high-leverage strategies to improve student achievement. Her research interests include culturally responsive teaching, literacy interventions for students with disabilities, and establishing research-to-practice partnerships to improve student academic outcomes.
