Jordyn Thomas is a Project TRANSLATE Fellow and Ph.D. student in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Reading Education and Language Arts. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Florida A&M University and an M.Ed. in Special Education, along with a Graduate Certificate in Dyslexia, from the University of Florida. Before beginning her doctoral studies, she spent seven years in early childhood education and two years teaching third-grade ELA at a Title I school in Tallahassee. Drawing from her classroom experience, Jordyn has provided targeted reading support to students with significant reading difficulties. She is passionate about addressing systemic inequities through educational research. Jordyn has presented her work at the Florida Literacy Association Conference and the Thurgood Marshall Teacher Quality and Retention Program Summer Institute.
