Dr. Julie Baisden is an Assistant in Research with the Florida Center for Reading Research at Florida State University, working specifically with projects related to the Florida Department of Education and The Village. The Village uses a place-based, collective impact approach to create, support, and sustain research-practice partnerships to support reading achievement, school readiness, and school success among vulnerable children and youth. Dr. Baisden began her career as a teacher in a PreK-8 School. She has held positions at the school-based level as a General Education Teacher for Leon County Schools and a Literacy Coach before joining FCRR and becoming faculty at FSU. Dr. Baisden has also served as adjunct faculty at Flagler College and is currently teaching at St. Petersburg College and Florida State University in the College of Education.

Dr. Baisden's primary research interests include pre-service teachers and preparation for the classroom, along with the importance of foundational reading skills and ensuring all students learn how to read.
