Jennifer Gans, Ph.D.

Dr. Jennie Gans is an Assistant in Research with the Florida Center for Reading Research at Florida State University, working specifically with projects related to the Florida Department of Education and The Village. The Village uses a place-based, collective impact approach to create, support, and sustain research-practice partnerships to support reading achievement, school readiness, and school success among vulnerable children and youth. Dr. Gans began her career as an early childhood special education teacher. She has held positions at both the school-based level as an Exceptional Student Education Specialist for Broward County Public Schools, and at the district level as a Program Specialist for Behavior with Leon County schools, prior to joining FCRR and becoming faculty at FSU. Dr. Gans has also served as adjunct faculty at Nova Southeastern University since 2019.
Dr. Gans primary research interests include identifying factors that might explain teacher resistance versus teacher support for participation in education research.
